Charity shops

The Oxfam Shop in Wokingham raises vital funds for projects run by the charity both here and abroad. They are currently in need of volunteers on Monday afternoons, Thursday afternoons and Saturday morning and afternoons. Training is available.

Thames Hospice is an independent local charity offering people living with a life-limiting illness the best possible care and support. Their shop, based in central Wokingham, is essential to their fundraising efforts. They are looking for volunteer retail assistants to help with sorting donations, customer service/till work, implementing gift aid and sales. They have various shifts available from Monday to Saturday. Volunteers must be aged 16 and over.

The British Heart Foundation are the nation's heart charity and the largest independent funder of cardiovascular research.
Coronary heart disease is the UK's single biggest killer but we are leading the fight against it. Their pioneering research has helped to transform the lives of people living with heart and circulatory conditions. The charity have a shop Wokingham which is vital at raising funds and it is in need volunteers to cover shifts doing various roles. Shifts are available throughout the week, but are particularly keen to hear from volunteers who can help on Sundays.

Blue Cross provides help for pet owners when they cannot afford vet bills, rescue and rehome pets, counselling for pet bereavement and educating children about looking after their pets. They have recently opened a charity shop in Wokingham and they are in need of people to help them. Volunteers will be required to get involved with all aspects of helping in the shop which will include; Till work, stock rotation, steaming and tagging clothing, bringing books, cds, dvds and bric-a-brac from the stockroom down to the sales floor. The charity are looking for people with good communication and customer service skills and must be well organised. Shifts are 9am-1pm or 1pm-5pm Monday to Saturday.

Sue Ryder
helps provide person centred hospice and neurological care across the UK. Their charity shop in Wokingham sells donated items and new goods to raise money for the vital work they do. They are looking to take on more
volunteer sales assistants. Activities will include serving customers, dealing with stock donations and deliveries, keeping the shop floor tidy and well-presented and supporting shop fundraising activities. Volunteers will need to have good communication skills and be able to be part of a team. Retail experience would be useful, but not essential as training will be given. They have various slots available mornings and afternoons from Mondays to Saturdays, but volunteers will need to be able to commit to a regular slot. Volunteers must be aged 14 and over.

Forces Support provide support for the bereaved families of members of the armed forces. They are looking for volunteers who can help in their new Wokingham shop with sorting stock, stock rotation and customer service. Various shifts are available from Monday- Sunday, morning and afternoons.
