Arts/Culture

The Cultural Partnership is a non-profit making group which aims to promote the value of art, heritage and cultural activities. Volunteers can be useful in so many ways – helping set up  a ‘hands-on-arts’ pavilion at the May Fayre, helping set up an art exhibition in an empty shop, invigilating exhibitions, helping with administration etc. You might even have an idea yourself of how you could help! If you are passionate about arts, culture and your local community, then contact us.

Wokingham Film Society is a community interest group, therefore non for profit and it screens films, with occasional associated events, for the benefit of the community in Wokingham and surrounding areas. They meet at the Whitty Theatre at Luckley House School in Wokingham. They have a variety of roles available such as front of house, marketing/publicity, projection, finance and others. The normal screening night is the second Thursday of each month and there is a meeting of the Board and volunteers on the first Monday of each month. Skills or experience in any of the areas above would be useful but not essential. The main requirement is have an enthusiasm for cinema, particularly community and independent cinema.

Norwood runs Ravenswood, which is a residential village for people with learning disabilities. They are looking for volunteers to support their service users in art and craft classes. The sessions take place Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings from 9.30am-12pm, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1.30pm-4pm and on a Monday evening from 6pm-8pm. Volunteers will need to have a passion for arts and crafts and be patient and caring.
